About Me

Web Programming

This summer I had a web design internship. It really made me interested in the history of web design and the different style eras. The programmer I worked with has been programming websites since very early web design and he was able to tell me a bit about the different periods. I love going on the Internet Archive and seeing old versions of sites. This site is one I really enjoy browsing. I love the early 2000s era of web design with the chrome and big buttons and the 3d effect and the interactive icons. The website below is an example of a 1996 website with those features.

I hope I can continue to develop websites after I graduate. It is something I really enjoy doing, and I hope to find a career in it some day.

My Genetic Disorder

When I was 7, I was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder, dopamine responsive dystonia. My aunt has it and it was passed down to me. I have been taking a medication called carbidopa-levopdopa that helps me be able to walk normally. Dystonia in general means uncontrollable muscle contractions, and when I don't take my pills, I cannot walk. I unfortunately still experience much fatigue and muscle stiffness. I have been in physical therapy when I was younger to catch up with my delayed motor skills. This disorder is something I will have for my whole life, and it is something I have learned to live with.

My sister is a year younger than me and was learning how to ride a bike, play sports, swim, and hit a lot of early motor development milestones before I did. I am able to be a lot more active now, and in high school, I played a sport every season. It's amazing how much my medication helps me.
